People and Communities Designer - OHS section

The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist Designer will carry out various tasks to assist the Project Manager - People and Communities. The candidate will act primarily as a consultant to mining companies seeking to comply with their social protocols.  

The following is a non-exhaustive list of tasks related to occupational health and safety.

• Collaborate in the development and implementation of health and safety programs adapted to the challenges of the mining field, including the development of operational procedures and policies.

• Collaborate in the development of training programs for the various players in the mining sector to promote good health and safety practices.

• Take charge of internal processes relating to health and safety at work.

As a designer, he or she will work in collaboration with and support the project manager responsible for the social component. He or she is expected to be versatile, and may be called upon to carry out projects involving human resources issues or working with communities.

• BAC or Technical in health and safety, human resources, community relations or any other relevant field;

• Minimum experience of 3 to 5 years in a similar position, preferably in the mining sector (an asset);

• Knowledge of Canadian health and safety standards and regulations (OHS, CNESST, etc.);

• Fluency in French and English (oral and written);

• Autonomy and sense of initiative;

• Good ability to popularize and teach;

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

• Based at the Go-Mine office on the South Shore of Montreal, but possibility of telecommuting;

• Possibility of traveling to mine sites, as needed and according to projects;

It is very active, among other things, in bringing mine sites into compliance with mining industry standards and best practices. It is also involved in a wide range of environmental and social responsibility projects, as well as working with mines on emergency preparedness and risk management.
